Even Carol Brady had to take a sick day once in a while! January 17, 2012

Let me preface this by saything that I am a full fledged germo-phobe. Not a little bit. I am saying “out loud” that I would probably bathe in Lysol if I thought that it wouldn’t kill me. I over handwash, over hand sanitize, and overall spend far too much time and energy worrying about all of the illnesses that are circulating. I take a lot of crap for this. From EVERYONE. But I cannot help it.

Januray 8th, it happened. Hubby was putting D to bed and all of a sudden, Blammo- vomit fest. Great. My poor baby was so sick. All.Night.Long. Since then, gastro has steadily made its way through our home. I was claimed as the latest victim this Sunday. It was awful. Unfortunately, I was still not feeling well on Monday. My head was pounding. Thank God that my in-laws had Monday off (Thank you, MLK!) and the kids went over to spend the day with Memere, Pepere, and Tante. I was in bed all day. This morning I woke up to much of the same. Insane pressure in my head. Memere and Tante were back to work today, but Pepere was ready, willing, and able to take on my Hooligans with arms wide open.

I managed to get out of bed, shower, and make myself a doctor’s appointment, get there, go to the pharmacy, and Starbucks before coming home to the comfort of my darkened home and my couch. The diagnosis: Sinus Infection. I am taking my Amoxicillin like a trooper (even though it is a pill and not bubble gum flavored) and hope to be back to SuperMom status tomorrow. I feel awful for having been basically incapacitated since Sunday, but I am so greatful to everyone who has pitched in to help out. My in-laws for watching the kids, my family for calling to check on me, and my kids for not killing one another or their sitters.

I keep reminding myself that it takes a village to raise a child. And hey, even Carol Brady needed a sick day once in a while!
